Klaviyo flows
What are they? How do I build them?

Your website works for you 24/7/365. You need to respond to customers when they are active, even if that's at 2 am when you and your team are asleep! Klaviyo workflows, or just 'flows', enable you to do just that.

Flows are a sequence of automated messages email, SMS, WhatsApp, push notifications, that are triggered by the actions of the customer. For example, when someone adds items to their shopping basket, and then leaves without completing the purchase (known as Abandoned Cart flows). These flows might remind the customer what they put in their cart, suggest other items that might interest them, potentially offer them an incentive to complete the purchase. But each message will be triggered by what the customer does - or doesn't do.

With automated flows, you can keep in touch with your customers whatever time of day or night it is for you - or them. And with Klaviyo, you can automate this contact for whichever channel each individual customer prefers to use.

Types of Flows

Automated sequences can be used for a range of points along the customer journey, each of them designed to in some way enhance the user experience and the customer journey. This builds trust and loyalty to your brand.

Automation, Workflows & Built-in "Split Logic"

Built-in "split logic" is the facility to stipulate branching conditions dependent on the actions of your customer. This means you can personalise their individual journey even further, delivering a more relevant journey. The more tailored the experience is, the greater likelihood that they'll buy more, and more frequently. Importantly, the more relevant the messaging, the less likely it is that they'll fade away or unsubscribe.

For example:

Viewed a product → Split by product value (i.e. less than £50 / more than £50)
Placed an order → New customer vs returning customer
Predicted next order → Product type
Price drop → Visited the site in the previous 4 days vs not
Dates (birthday, anniversary, etc.) → Viewed product vs not viewed

By splitting the journey based on the customer's actions, you can delivered tailored content that keeps them engaged with your brand.


Flows & Landing Pages

Flows can include a call-to-action which, when clicked, will take your customer to a landing page dedicated to the content you want them to see. They're ideal for when you want to focus customers on a single action. The content can be created specific to a campaign, so keeping it highly relevant, and you can use Klaviyo's integrations with other platforms to track customer data for further personalisation and targeting.

Landing pages connected to flows are ideal for when you want to collect leads, grow your subscriber list, or encourage a specific action (pre-order now, play this game to enter a prize draw). And with Klaviyo, you can create multiple versions of a landing page with different elements, so you can see which version produces the highest conversion rates. This data then informs you which version to integrate into your primary flow.
